Hydroxyethyl Cellulose is non-ionic water-soluble polymer, it is effective in thickening, bonding, emulsifying, dispersing, stabilizing and water preserving, forming film and providing protective colloid effect in such industries like architectural coating, petroleum and daily-use chemicals.

Properties
This white to light yellow fibrous or powdery solid is a nonionic cellulose . Due to the hydrophilic hydroxyethyl group within the molecule, it is readily soluble in both cold and hot water. Its aqueous solution has a pH of 6.5 to 8.5 and is heat-stable. HEC has varying solubility depending on the degree of substitution (DS) and is insoluble in most organic solvents. It exhibits thickening, suspending, bonding, emulsifying, dispersing, and moisture-retaining properties, allowing for the preparation of solutions with varying viscosities. It has exceptionally good salt solubility in dielectrics, allowing its aqueous solution to contain high concentrations of salts without change.

Product applications
It is primarily used as a surfactant, colloid protective agent, emulsion stabilizer for emulsion polymerization of vinyl chloride, vinyl acetate, and other materials, as well as a thickener, dispersant, and dispersion stabilizer for latex. It can also be used as a sizing agent in the textile industry, as an adhesive, thickening, emulsifying, and stabilizing agent in the electronics and light industries, and as a water-based gel fracturing fluid in the oil field.
